TO STOP SINGING AND RETIRE WOULD BE LIKE DYING INSIDE

– The Spanish singer/songwriter
Julio Iglesias said that after a 45 year career he
doesn’t think of retiring from the stage, as if he gave
up singing it would be as if to die inside.

“I go on tour just to feel good. It’s a 22 hour daily
wait where they stick you in a room, during that time I get out little, I eat very little and all my thoughts are
focused on the two-hour concert, hurting me
whatever hurts, having whatever problem, when I get up on stage I have no age.”

“It would seem as if my heart valve might pump out
more blood like never before throughout my body. My blood pressure lowers and my soul becomes bigger.”

“Retiring would be unfair because I’ve spent 45 years singing and it would be like dying on the inside, which is the worst of deaths. So as long as I have a little place to sing in, I’m going to keep singing”, he said.

It’s not an act of humility, but reality, Mexico and
Spain invented me, criticized me, taught me, I’ve
learned more from the criticism than anything.

Intelligent criticism has made me a better singer and returning to Mexico is a privilege for few singers, because I was born here as a singer in the 70’s when I toured the Plaza de Toros and they put me in any bar to sing in front of three tables, those years have been unforgettable, then came a gap of nearly 25 years”.

Record as the Latin musician who has sold the most
albums in history, doesn’t consider himself a legend,
because legends are dead. “I’ve gone through life, but I’m still alive. However, I hope to leave a big footprint when I have to go”.

At 69, the singer states that he has learned a lot, but
always maintains the idea that he can learn more.
The reason for re-recording his hits from 40 years ago as new material is because he considers that he sings better now than before.
“The result has been nice as I’ve remembered why I’d written “Me olvidé de vivir” and others I’ve enjoyed.
Iglesias would still like to do so many things, although he’s sure that he’d never tell his life story in a book or even a movie.

Regarding Enrique Iglesias, he considers the career of his son has gone quite well, showing that Enrique
loves his profession, “He’s self-sacrificing, he has
passion, a lot of discipline, he’s very independent,
strong and well brought-up in the love towards people and musicians which people like, they’re already a plus in his life, Enrique is a champion”.

Julio Iglesias said that many women have passed
through his life, but not thousands as once was
speculated.
“I’ve never turned my back on a woman, I’ve loved
and I keep loving because I have eight children and I’ ve seen the birth of each one of them. I know about the devotion of mothers for their kids, and that gets reflected in my reason.

“Whenever I’m asked how many women have been in my life, I answer back, enough of them to keep loving them more every day”.
